‘Yokomono Pro’ at CTM.10
Staalplaat Soundsystem and sound artists Ilpo Väisänen and Mika Vainio (Pan Sonic) will precent  the outdoor sound-performance-action ‘Yokomono-Pro’.

For the performance we have the Berlin Mobile Carphonic orchestra, that consist of 30 volunteers, each with his/her own car, to be sound-drivers.

Yokomono-Pro features 3 groups of cars – 30 vehicles in total – playing synched sound-patterns and driving a carefully choreographed route around  the siegessäule for a period of approx. 30 minutes. Eachvehicle’s battery is hooked up to a specially designed car horn that is triggered by low-frequency transmitters linked to a central controlling unit. After dividing the vehicles/drivers three groups and assigning each a specific route, Staalplaat Soundsystem, Ilpo Väisänen and Mika Vainio are able to ‘play’ them like an instrument: the interaction of choreographed traffic and the horns’ sound patterns creates a composition tailored to the spatial dimensions of the action.

In het kader van de tentoonstelling Tuney Tunes wordt op 29 januari 2010 van 13-19 uur in het Centrum Beeldende Kunst Dordrecht het symposium City Tunes georganiseerd met als thema ‘Geluidskunst in de stad’. Verschillende geluidskunstenaars zullen presentaties en lezingen houden en discussiëren over de mogelijkheden van geluidskunst in de stedelijke omgeving. Deelnemers zijn behalve Paul Panhuysen en Nico Parlevliet, Edwin van der Heide, Paul Devens, Cilia Erens, Peter Veenstra (Lola landscape architects), Geert-Jan Hobijn (Staalplaat Sound System), Justin Bennett en Taco Stolk. Gespreksleider is Andrée van de Kerckhove, juryvoorzitter Witteveen+Bos-prijs voor Kunst+Techniek.

De tentoonstelling Tuney Tunes met werk van Paul Panhuysen en Nico Parlevliet. Op vrijdag 29 januari wordt in het Centrum Beeldende Kunst Dordrecht het symposium City Tunes gehouden dat ingaat op de mogelijkheden van geluidskunst in de openbare ruimte.
Tentoonstelling en symposium zijn een initiatief van Ina Boiten, kunsthistoricus en buitenpromovendus Public Sound Art aan de Universiteit Leiden.
